Officer Joyce Pena began her employment with the Balcones Heights Police Department thirty years ago, April 1984. Not only was she the first full-time female officer she was commended for doing an outstanding job.
Councilwoman Madeline A. Slay inducted into San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame - Mrs. Slay has lived in Balcones Heights for over 14 years. She is also the President/Owner of Madeline Anz Slay Architecture, which is located in the former Balcones Heights City Hall building.
New Fire Truck Ordered - During a special called meeting on September 18, 2006 the Balcones Heights City Council authorized the lease purchase of a Ferrera Mid-Mount, 100-foot “Quint” ladder truck for a total cost of $791,698.
