Looking for Veterans in Balcones Heights!
Celebration November 9 at 10 a.m.
Message from Councilmember Miguel Valverde - Chairman for Veterans recognition:
Veterans Day is November 11, 2019 and approaching very quickly. Our Mayor, council, and staff have a plan in place to recognize and thank our community’s veterans. Our city has an event scheduled for November 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Justice Center to honor and recognize our community’s veterans for their service. I am asking all veterans to participate in this event in order to make it successful. I know there are veterans that choose to be quiet and don’t want to be recognized for their service. The bottom line is that all veterans must be recognized and thanked for their service regardless of their assignments or deployments during their active duty status.
Council members and first responders knocked or will knock on doors on or about the 4th of October to gather name, address and branch of service from our veterans. This will give the city an opportunity to plan for the space needed and the amount of food to order. If anyone has been missed due to not being home, please call me or email me as soon as you can, we don’t want to miss anyone.
If you are a veteran and have not provided your service information to anyone, please do not hesitate to contact me at 210-508-7404 or email@example.com so that I can account for you and your guest(s).
I want to take this opportunity to thank one of our residents, Mr. Frank Hebert a Vietnam Veteran for contacting me and participating in our veteran’s committee meetings. I want to thank him for his monetary donation to the city to help out with this event in November for all veterans.
