Stable with mild symptoms.

Individual tested positive for COVID-19

Recently, Methodist Hospital | Texsan was selected to receive a patient who was an evacuee from China in quarantine at Lackland Air Force Base and was found to have a fever. With the expert guidance of the staff at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we activated additional protocols prior to the patient’s arrival to ensure the safety of all hospital staff, patients and visitors. The individual was privately escorted through a secluded entrance to avoid common areas and has been isolated at all times. Yesterday, the individual tested positive for COVID-19, but is stable with mild symptoms.

While we must protect our patients’ privacy, it is important to us to keep our community informed with facts to avoid undue stress or the spread of misinformation. Methodist Hospital | Texsan continues to be a safe place to receive the highest quality of care, and concerned San Antonians are encouraged to visit CDC.gov/inCoV for additional information.

We take great pride serving alongside our partners with The City of San Antonio, The City of Balcones Heights, Metro Health, the San Antonio Fire Department, STRAC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our fellow hospital systems as we collaborate to address the healthcare needs of both our community and fellow American citizens under quarantine at Lackland Air Force Base. If necessary, any further information will be communicated by the CDC.
